Polish Mlekovita denies bribe request from Russian watchdog
MOSCOW/WARSAW, May 28 (PRIME) -- The management of Polish Mlekovita denied on Thursday media reports that Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Sergei Dankvert allegedly requested a bribe for access of its dairy products to the Russian market.
“There absolutely was no such situation. The director is not acquainted with (Dankvert), his deputies do not know him either. There were no meetings with him,” a representative of the company said.
Telegram channels said earlier citing sources that a Polish businessman had reported to the police that Dankvert had extorted a U.S. $500,000 bribe from him.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the Kremlin is not aware of the authenticity of the information, but sees it as “difficult to imagine.”
“We saw the information in the mass media. We do not know if it is true, it is difficult to imagine. But if such a report to the police has taken place indeed, the information will be checked,” he said.
